Arataki Prems 7's - Poverty Bay Rugby Union 7's Wrap. PBRU Gisborne, 12th November. A Great Saturday with our boys travelling away to Gisborne to the home of new Arataki Player and 7's coach Kahu Tamatea. The boys went through with a close first game win against Havelock North 14-12 but convincingly taking out the B pool unbeaten in the round robin. Then going onto with a dominating win against Hawkes Bay team MAC Sports in the Semis.A hard final but without the ball in the first half eventually coming Runner's Up to Napier Tech 29-7 in the final. A great day and night with the Tamatea family with special thanks to Brent Mokomoko from PBRU for our set-up and hospitality, Tania Bartlett for the boys beautiful rewana sandwiches for lunch and to the big YMP legend (500 + games and still playing at 55) Ron Tamatea for your hospitality with Kina's and Paua's all round for the team. A fantastic day from our boys with the recruitment of some young local really talented secondary school boys helping us out. As we did come runner up in this competition the boys have qualified for the middlex club nationals in Hamilton in January. PBRU Arataki will be back in 2017. Too much boys, well done ATK !
